Follow the new facility as it takes shape on the footprint of the 200-year-old homestead — hand-laid stone, suites, studio and pool.
Foundations are poured, the stone plinth is laid, and the room layout — suites, central living, studio wing and pool — is now clearly readable from the air. Here's the latest from site.
The full footprint from above — suites and central living to the left, the lap pool taking shape alongside, and the studio wing beyond. Stone foundation walls follow the natural contour of the land.
Room divisions rise in plastered brick over a hand-laid stone base — the same stone vocabulary as the original homestead, carried into every suite and boundary wall.
Seen wide, the lodge sits low and long against the Magaliesberg veld — close to the tree line and the spring, far from anything else.
At eye level the texture comes through — warm ochre plaster over stone and brick, slot windows framing the veld, and the approach road curving in past the windmill.
